“Give me guidance, not options.” That is the customer demand driving the strategy and road map of SAP’s (NYSE: SAP) Digital Business Services (DBS) organization, as outlined at the Digital Business Services Analyst Day in July. While customers evaluate what digital transformation might mean to their businesses, SAP DBS is evaluating how it can be a better strategic partner to these customers. Traditionally strong with technical expertise, SAP is putting a greater emphasis on leading services engagements with the business value and serving the “segment of one.” With the “segment of one” concept, SAP seeks to understand and improve how customers are using SAP software to meet their business objectives. Partners will undeniably be affected, in some cases worried, by the transformation SAP DBS is undergoing. But ultimately, SAP’s relationship with its C&SI partners is symbiotic, and new partner opportunities will be created as a result.
