Device companies can capitalize on digital home opportunities via B2B2C sales strategies
The next revolution in the devices market will not be led by a singular groundbreaking device. Instead, thousands of digital assistants as well as smart light bulbs, speakers and household appliances will disrupt the devices market, traditionally led by PCs, smartphones and tablets, as they build the infrastructure of the digital home.
This new segment will alter the market as it will drive a transition in spend from a small number of large devices — PCs and mobile devices — to a larger number of small devices as consumers equip their homes with smart sensors, digital assistants, voice-controlled information and communications hubs, wireless security cameras, thermostats, and smoke detectors. Technology Business Research, Inc. (TBR) forecasts this market opportunity will swell to $100 billion by 2021 as large players such as Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN), Google and Samsung position to dominate digital home.
