Legacy decommissioning and cost savings from NFV, SDN and cloud cause North America TIS market to decline until standards-based 5G arrives in 2020
According to Technology Business Research, Inc.’s (TBR) Telecom Infrastructure Services North America Market Forecast 2016-2022, the telecom infrastructure services (TIS) market in North America will decline until 2020 as operators decommission legacy infrastructure and realize cost savings from the use of NFV, SDN and cloud. Some operators will also realize synergies from consolidation during the forecast period, which will further reduce spend. The market will return to growth in 2020, when standards-based 5G will begin to be commercially deployed, and will continue to grow through the remainder of the forecast period, driven by 5G build-outs and operator transformations (both business and operational). TBR estimates the market CAGR will be -0.2% from 2016 to 2022.
